MYJN Galerie

A private jewellery studio inside House 11th, Petaling Jaya. By appointment.

The house

There is a house near the end of a quiet road in Petaling Jaya. It was built in 2009 by WHBC Architects, and they built it the honest way. Concrete left bare so it can weather. Brick that keeps the warmth of the earth. A gate welded from scrap steel, slowly turning the colour of rust. Nursery netting, not machines, filters the sun and lets the rooms breathe on their own.

Nothing in this house pretends to be new. Everything in it was made to grow old well.

The first time we stood inside, it felt familiar. This house already believed what we believe: good material, given time and care, only gets better. So we stopped looking. We moved in and brought MYJN home with us.

People sometimes ask when we will repaint the gate, or the spiral staircase. We like them as they are.

And the house returned the favour, it gave MYJN a home. We keep no store in a mall. There is no counter and no queue. Since 2017, from Penang to Petaling Jaya, we designed, finished, photographed and sent the work from wherever we were. Now everything is kept and shown under one roof, and that roof is a home.

We look after it ourselves. We wash these floors, paint these walls, clear the pond, tend the garden, oil the wood. Much of the furniture we built ourselves, in wood and steel, with the same hands that finish your jewellery. It adds up to months of our weekends, and we would not trade one of them. Almost nothing here was bought to fill space. Every piece had to earn its place, the way we hope our work earns a place with you.

What a visit is for.

The website shows you the pieces. The house lets you know them.

Feel the weight the photographs cannot carry. See silver and gold against your own skin, in daylight instead of a screen. Find your true ring size, measured properly, once and for all. Compare scales side by side. Ask about the archive, designs that left the shop still live here. Learn how to care for what you own, shown by hand, not by leaflet.

If you are choosing a gift, we will help you choose well.

And if you fall for something, it goes home with you the same afternoon, boxed at the table. You will not be sold to here. The work argues for itself, and it argues best in the hand.

When you come.

Your visit begins the day before you arrive. We take out the pieces you asked about and set them on the long table.

Then the half hour is yours. One party at a time, so the whole house is quiet for you.

Two cats live here, Ah Fa and Ah Cai. They believe they are the hosts. If they decide they like you, they will come and say hello.

And if it rains while you are here, do not rush. The house is at its best in the rain.

Before you book.

We want to be honest about what a booking means to us.

MYJN keeps no counter staff. The people who host you are the same few people who finish, pack and send every order the studio ships. A visit is carved out of that working day, prepared for you by name, and when someone books and does not come, the afternoon is simply gone, and someone else who wanted the time never got it.

We take no deposit. Your word is enough here. In return, two things. Name the pieces you are coming to decide on, so they are ready when you are. And if plans change, send word early, that is completely fine, we will gladly move it. A visit missed without a word is one we do not offer twice.

A few things, the way we would tell a friend. Come as the number you booked, the table is set for exactly that many. Come at your hour rather than before it, the last stretch before you arrive is us setting the house for you, and we would rather you meet it finished. Running late, send word and we will hold your time as long as we can. Upstairs, where the work happens, is not part of the visit. Photograph the pieces and the light as freely as you like.

We do not publish the address. It comes with your confirmation, and we ask you to keep it quietly, the way we do. If this sounds like your kind of afternoon, we would love to have you. You will be expected.

You are welcome to reserve ahead. Write to us.

One party at a time, thirty minutes, Monday to Friday. Requests are reviewed and answered personally, and a visit is confirmed only by our reply. We hold 10 visits a week, and the table is set for each by name.

The button opens a mobile email template with six short lines, who you are, when suits you, and the pieces you are coming to decide on. If nothing opens, write the same six lines to help@myjnofficial.com. Soon, a booking calendar will sit on this page. Until then, every visit is arranged by hand.

We read every request ourselves and reply personally, usually within the day. Our reply is the confirmation, and it carries everything you need, the address, where to park, and the half hour held in your name.

If you are coming to decide, come. You will be expected.
