MYJN is a house of sculptural jewellery and objects, independent since 2017 and run by the small team that makes the work. The Galerie is in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Some things are bought. A few are kept.

A PRIVATE AFFINITY · 愛着

We make sculpture small enough to wear. Jewellery is the architecture you take with you.

Our collections begin with things we cannot quite leave alone: a line in a building, a shape at the table. We follow the attraction until it can be held. Then it leaves, and the attachment changes hands. What it comes to carry in someone else's life is more than we could ever have put into it.

THE DISCIPLINE OF DESIRE · 偏愛

Familiarity can make a beautiful shape almost invisible. Our forms have plain names. Egg. Dome. Sphere. Spiral. The shape is the whole point.

A fascination becomes a run of exact decisions. A dome needs fullness; too much can make it inert. An earring changes character with a shift in where it ends beside the face. We return to these small differences. They are where a shape stops being a shape and starts being ours.

THE INNER SURFACE · 手間

The feel of a piece matters as much as its appearance. Sterling and fine silver, gold vermeil, brass, freshwater pearl. Vermeil is 18k gold laid over sterling silver, and we call it vermeil because that is its name.

The finish gets the same care as the form, especially the surfaces you feel more than see: the inside of a ring, the underside of a cuff, the edge that rests against the skin. Nobody will check. You will know.

When a piece dulls, bring it back. We would rather mend one you love than sell you one you do not.

AN APPETITE FOR BEAUTY · 美意識

The eye in this house is greedy and has given up pretending otherwise. We have a weakness for beautiful things. Making them is how we live with it.

One collection began in the kitchen. Another began in the house itself. The eye wants the lip of a lacquer bowl, the leg of a chair an architect drew, a pearl that refuses to be round. A dish of pasta is a perfectly serious beginning. There is room here for presence, for humour, and for a form a little more generous than you expected to choose.

ARCHITECTURE OF ABSENCE · 余白

A donut, a leek, a shell. Our jewellery keeps strange company in photographs, so the shape has to hold its own.

Most of the colour has been taken out. What stays is contour, light, shadow, and the room around a piece. The space inside a hoop and the opening of a cuff are drawn the same way. We build around you, not over you.

Less in the picture, more of you in it.

FOUND · 共鳴

Not built to be seen by everyone. Built to be found. We like the thought that a piece can tell you something about us before we have met.

Somewhere, at a table, someone will look twice at your hand and say nothing. That is the whole conversation. We were just keeping it until you found us.

The Long After  · 余韻

Not the first glance. The long after.  The finest compliment an object can receive is to be chosen again by the person who already owns it.

The bell stops. The note stays.

Start with one.

Or come and hold one first.
